Work Schedule:  M-F, or deemed as necessary for community coverage
Shift: 8am-5pm, additional hours as needed
Position(s) Whom Incumbent Supervises: Dir. Of Nursing for Dujarie House, Director of Social Services, Life Enrichment Coordinator, MDS Coordinator, Operations managers for Assisted Living and Memory Care

 
SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTIONS

The Vice President of Health Services is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and directing all functions and activities of designated healthcare departments, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and long-term care. Vice President of Health Services assists the President and CEO in leading and managing the overall operations of the campus in accordance with customer needs, government regulations, and Holy Cross Village’s mission and policies while achieving business and financial objectives. This position also is responsible for inspections, surveys, resident assessments, and chair or participates in various committees within the organization, including of operational, executive, master planning, and strategic planning committees.


 
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS

1.      Achieve organizational, financial and quality objectives for departments as delegated by the President. Ensures that service lines and programs are responsive to community needs and that quality care is delivered in an effective and economical fashion.

2.      Lead the coordination of all state and federal inspections and surveys for the Holy Cross Village campus. Positively represents and develops positive relationships with outside agencies including governmental agencies and third-party payers, residents, families, physicians, and the community at large.

3.      Manages communication with local and State licensure and health authorities to build trust with regulators and to assure continuing compliance with all licensure rules and regulations.

4.      Manages the census in all residential and licensed areas to further Holy Cross Village’s mission and to meet or exceed revenue goals.

5.      Assures ongoing and effective communication with residents and family members of residents in licensed areas to build trust, and to maximize family awareness of resident needs and constructive engagement of family members in the lives of residents.

6.      Ensure that residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights are maintained.

7.      Oversee the development and implementation of written policies and procedures that reflect the goals and objectives of the community.

8.      Assist in monitoring Human Resource practices to ensure compliance with employment laws and organizational policies and the pursuit of practices that promote high morale and staff retention.

9.      Monitor the operation of assigned departments, functions, activities and other related areas, communicate policies, evaluate performance, provide feedback and assist, observe, coach and discipline as necessary.

10.  Keep abreast of the economic condition/situation and assist in adjusting as necessary to assure the continued ability to provide quality resident care.

11.  Assist in preparation of an annual operating budget for approval by the Board of Directors and allocates the resources to carry out programs and activities of the organization. Additionally, assist in the management of established facility and campus budgets to include labor costs and operational supplies and expenses.

12.  This position will attend, at the discretion of the President, Board and Finance Committee meetings.

13.  Assist in monitoring business activities to ensure procedures and standards are followed in accordance with acceptable practices.

14.  Delegate authority, responsibility, and accountability to department heads.

15.  Participate in educational workshops, seminars and meetings to keep abreast of current changes in the healthcare field, as well as to maintain professional status.

16.  Ensure that the campus is clean and safe for residents’ comfort and convenience and that necessary equipment and supplies are maintained to perform such duties/services. Ensures that universal precautions, infection control, fire safety and sanitation practices and procedures are followed.

17.  Plan, implement, and maintain adequate liaison with families and residents.
